Why a new system? And how does it work?

The old systems just don't work for a whole lotta people.

But my system will have you playing songs with both hands immediately.

I've been playing piano professionally for over fifty years and teaching professionally for over thirty years. This is about the the teaching part.

In all my years of teaching, the most significant thing I've learned is that most folks hate traditional piano lessons.

You know what I mean. Things like reading notation including:

  • the grand staff
  • treble clef
  • bass clef
  • note names
  • names of the notes on the spaces of the staffs
  • names of note on the lines of the staffs
  • rest symbols (whole rest, half rest, quarter rest, eighth rest…)
  • dynamic markings (I mean c'mon, dynamic markings – i know what you're thinking: “I'm not able play a song one hand and you want me to learn what all those symbols are?”)
  • plus a whole lot of of other things you have to do like practice scales, and chord patterns, and arpeggios, and … you get my drift.

Plus all the work is done through rote memorization … you know, all the various and sundry bits and pieces of musical information.

So.

Not anymore, lesson one will have you playing a simple song, Mary Had a Little Lamb, with the left hand playing chords and keeping rhythm while the right hand plays the melody.

Then building on that foundation you'll progress from simple to complex left hand rhythms and chord patterns all while keeping the right hand simple. And we'll add to that a series of easy finger exercises that get your hands under you mental control and  you'll quickly be playing music. Not quasi-music, but actual songs of your choosing.

All without having to practice an hour a day. Most folks can learn to play with as little as ten to fifteen minutes of practice a day.
